New Zealand Active Investor Plus Visa
Where quality of life meets global mobility. Pristine landscapes, free healthcare, and a stable democracy make New Zealand the premier choice for investors seeking peace, security, and natural beauty.
Program Overview
New Zealand's Active Investor Plus Visa, reformed in April 2025, offers a streamlined path to residence for investors willing to contribute to the country's economic growth. Unlike passive investment programs, New Zealand wants engaged investors who will actively participate in the economy—whether through direct business investment, managed funds, or growth-oriented portfolios.
The program offers two categories: Growth and Balanced. The Growth Category requires NZD $5 million invested for 36 months in higher-risk direct investments or managed funds, with minimal physical presence—just 21 days over the three-year period. The Balanced Category requires NZD $10 million for 60 months in diversified investments, with 105 days presence over five years (with possible reduction if investing more than NZD 10M in growth assets). The previous NZD 15M weighted regime was reduced in April 2025.
Processing is efficient: 80% of applications receive approval in principle within 4 months. After maintaining your investment for the required period, you can apply for permanent residence. Path to citizenship requires approximately five years as a resident, provided you have spent at least 1,350 days in New Zealand over those five years, with a minimum of 240 days in each 12-month period. New Zealand citizenship grants one of the world's most valuable passports with visa-free access to 185 countries.

Life in New Zealand
New Zealand offers a lifestyle that prioritizes wellbeing over hustle. The country is famous for its outdoor culture—hiking, sailing, skiing, and adventure sports are part of daily life. The pace is relaxed yet productive, with strong emphasis on family time and community. Work-life balance isn't just a concept here; it's embedded in the culture.
English is the primary language, making integration straightforward. The population of 5 million is welcoming and multicultural, with established communities from around the world. Auckland offers cosmopolitan city life; Wellington provides a creative, compact capital experience; Queenstown delivers adventure and natural beauty. The cost of living is higher than some destinations, but the quality of life—clean air, safe streets, stunning nature—is exceptional.

Investment & Resident Visa
Transfer funds to New Zealand and make qualifying investments. Once confirmed, you receive your Resident Visa valid for the investment period (3 or 5 years).
Permanent Residence & Citizenship
After maintaining investments and meeting presence requirements, apply for Permanent Resident Visa. Citizenship eligibility requires at least 1,350 days physical presence over 5 years, with minimum 240 days in each 12-month period.
Important Considerations
No Worldwide Taxation
New Zealand does not tax worldwide income for new residents during their first four years (transitional resident rules). After that, foreign income is taxed only if you become a tax resident. Proper planning can minimize tax exposure.
Active Investment Required
Unlike some programs, New Zealand requires "acceptable investments" that contribute to economic growth. Government bonds and residential property are excluded. We help structure compliant investment portfolios.
Cost of Living
New Zealand has a higher cost of living than many destinations, particularly for housing in Auckland and Queenstown. However, free healthcare, quality public education, and overall quality of life offset these costs for many investors.
